3.13: "Full Measures" - Time to bite the bullet..

No, I didn't go to any forums and didn't discuss anything about this episode with anyone. No, it is time to stop analyzing and guessing and criticizing. It is time to simply be a good fan and wait until the next season relieves the pain of anticipation.

Meanwhile, fans are trying to find ways to keep themselves occupied. I wouldn't be surprised to find a Breaking Bad Lego, interactive maps of New Mexico or a recipe to make the blue crystal Cotton Candy the crew use in the set. Here are some of my favorite fan tributes to Breaking Bad:

3.11: "Abiquiu" - Gus's Chilean Dinner

Gus presents his warm side of a regular middle class family man. Also, it is such a non-North American thing for a guy to invite another guy over for dinner...

On the podcast 3.11, the creator of the show Vince Gilligan says he sees Gus as pure evil but I'm glad the fan culture is perfectly capable of interpreting this guy for themselves.

2.13: "ABQ" - Time To Discuss!!!!!!!

Is there anyone who wouldn't adore the pink teddy bear's trajectory? He floats around through the whole season only to fall down from the sky in the end. And he doesn't even need both eyes to do that.

Walter, on the other hand,  must have dressed specially for that occasion. I personally find the pink sweater a bit too much, as if the costume designer tried a little too hard this time to get everything in the frame perfectly matching.. for what reason?

2.11: "Mandala" - Wheel of Life or Vicious Circle?

The episode opens with Combo dying in the first scene and closes with a baby finding its way to life. "Mandala" is a mosaic made of  circles and cycles.

Many thanks to Kelley Dixon's podcasts on AMC website. She is one of the editors on this show, and together with her co-host, executive producer Vince Gilligan, they holds recorded discussions about every single episode with other crew members. I find the interviews absolutely enlightening. They cover everything from explaining the story-line nuances to giving a pretty good pisture of how the whole TV show industry works.

2.10: "Over" - Breakfast for Apology Girl

Breakfasts and Graphic Novels

Jesse's Graphic Novel.
Dedicated to Mr. White

Thoughts on breakfasts in Breaking Bad:

  • Just a couple of slices of veggie bacon in the pilot episode reveal the pecking order in the White family: controlling and slightly annoying Skylar, Walter, suppressing himself on every level imaginable, and finally the junior who, at least according to some posts on AMC's forum mostly suffers from lack of purpose.

2.8: "Better Call Saul" - The webisodes

First of all, playing this song as you read is mandatory.

Second, there wont be much to read this time, just a lot of webisodes and minisodes. You may have already visited Saul Goodman's own tasteful website. Among the video offers to help you get out of any legal trouble (ranging from parking ticket to mass murder), there's a couple of testimonials left by satisfied clients:

2.7: "Negro y Azul" - The Importance of Color

...content under construction:}

2.5: "Breakage" - The Cost of Doing Business

AMC has come with an interactive graphic novel game called
This is a story about how Denisa tried to play it. Ha ha..

It is dedicated to Jesse to give us a chance to identify with him. In later episodes, he shows quite some interest and skill in playing digital games so maybe this is supposed to get us close to him through this multi level shared experience:

1.6 "Crazy Handful of Nothin’" - Heisenberg Emerges

Why was it important for the story line to let Walter learn the truth about Krazy8's identity?

I personally think this episode is the one where we as viewers are supposed to start to root for the character of Walter White. He gives you all you need for that: shaved head, alter ego, motivational speech about thinking outside the box, and an exclamation point in the form of a nifty explosion.

1.1: "Pilot" - White and Pinkman Meet

Tamacun from the duo Rodrigo and Gabriela not only sets the music standard of the show promisingly high but also serves as an ironic analogy of the brilliant and dynamic duet Walt and Jesse are about to start playing.

About Apology Girl

Apology Girl is mad about Breaking Bad. She's mad about the plot, the cast, the aesthetics, the locations, the music, the western-movie feel, the creators' attention to detail and the amount of space this show leaves for fans to interpret, elaborate and contribute. She loves to analyze the form, content and context of the show and likes to listen to podcasts and watch videos that relate to the making of the show. She is also a member of various social networks and is fascinated by the fan culture's power to create so many different meanings and interpretations of one good TVshow.
